Whether you want to prescribe or just want to be informed, this course is a must for responsible doctors and allied healthcare practitioners.

There is growing consumer demand for medicinal cannabis (MC) in Australia, and the political and regulatory landscape surrounding MC access is changing. Many Australian patients are already accessing MC, mostly illegally. Access to MC by (only) medical practitioners is mostly via the Special Access Scheme and the Authorised Prescriber Scheme. However, in other countries, MC is available over-the-counter. There is a groundswell of consumer pressure on the Australian government, and the future of access to this valuable herbal medicine in Australia may very well change. Healthcare practitioners need to understand MC, as it will be one of the biggest disrupters in healthcare.

This two-day interactive course is particularly relevant to medical practitioners. However, it is also very useful to allied healthcare practitioners who want to be informed including nurses, pharmacists, Chinese medicine practitioners and naturopaths/western herbal medicine practitioners. Completing this course will help healthcare practitioners understand the science of MC; many of the common clinical applications; how to prescribe it and how to ensure patients are safe; and will debunk some of the myths around MC. It will assist medical practitioners with knowledge about the regulations surrounding prescribing of medicinal cannabis, including how to apply to prescribe medicinal cannabis under the TGA Authorised Prescribing Scheme.
